old poems

ANGER
Like the night creeps upon the day
The anger builds within me
Pounding through my veins
Tearing me apart
Tearing me insane
Within my bodily cavity
My little alarm clock
Tick tock tick tock
Waiting to blow me into shambles
Sitting around while thoughts run free
Doing the thinking on their own
Making stories from suggestion
Seem so real I have to let them
Play with my head as I sit here alone
Can’t seem to think straight in this state of mind
Can’t tell nor decide
Right from wrong, wrong from right
Reality , therefore is when I wake
In the morn, when the night has faded away
Like the anger that slowly dies into the day

PIN MY FEET DOWN
Like a puppet,
You dance me to and fro
You feed me laughter and joy,
You hold me close.

Like a closet,
You hang your sorrows and burdens
Along with scarves and coats,
You nurse my soul.

I have my head turned,
But still you compliment my smile
It’s dark, yet you comment my style,
I’m not there, but you paste me around
Why do you pin my feet down?

I’m trying to lean out the window,
You don’t want me to fall,
You hold me back…
I only want to smell, look, that’s all..

Like a puppy,
You fasten a leash
And take me for walks
Maybe I want to be free
How would I know where I’ve never been?

Like a home,
You offer security and warmth
You stand at the front door to greet,
Greet me,and you lay down your heart,
And nail it to my feet…

You brush the hair ,away from my face
Yet you don’t see me frown
Why do you pin my feet down??

HIM
Your eyes they fall upon her
And somehow brighten up her day
Twinkling with love and laughter
So perfect, in every way

Slowly they descend
That long appreciative gaze
As if to admire in awe
And take in her body’s grace

Your touch, ever warm and gentle
Light and feathery though firmness does not lack
As you rest your palm as if to guide her
In the slight bend of her lower back

And she wonders at any moment
If when you look into her eyes
You see the bursting joy
The love that took her by her own surprise

And as you glide upon silver dance floors
She feels upon her could never be harm
As locked in your gaze she is safest
Wrapped in warm and gentle arms

You whisper sweet words of love
Like a soft sung lullaby
And they dance across her heart
And etch into her mind

At night when you make love to her
She lets trickle down a tear
As she cries for the great man you are
And you hug and hold her near

And drifting off to sleep
You hope that you’ll pass first
So you’ll never have to lose her
The aspect of love that’s worst.

Hi Nola! Love your poetry too :) It's so funny that I'm sure when I was writing my stuff I felt as if I was probably the only one who was thinking/ feeling all that. Come to know we were pretty much all going through the same stuff! lol. Ah, life. Thanks for sharing :) I love "Him" :)

Hope you and the family are well!
